One Pan Smothered Chicken
One Pan Smothered Chicken is a classic recipe for seared chicken that is easy to make in 30 minutes! The tender chicken is smothered in a rich and creamy bacon sauce!
One Pan Smothered Chicken

Ingredients
- 6 slices of bacon, diced
- 2 pounds of chicken thighs, bone and skin
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 Tbsp paprika
- 1 Tbspof salt
- 1/2 Tbsp pepper
- 1/2 Tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 stick of butter, divided
- 3 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
- Cook the diced bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until cooked through. Remove the bacon from a plate covered with absorbent paper and set aside.
- While the bacon cooks, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper and Italian seasoning in a bowl or shallow dish.
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and slide the chicken on each side into the seasoned flour until it is coated. Shake off the excess flour and reserve the flour mixture for later.
- Once the bacon is removed from the pan, add half the butter to the pan and let it melt.
- When the butter is melted, add the chicken coated with flour and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until it is golden.
- Remove the chicken from a plate and set aside.
- Add the remaining butter to the pan and let it melt.
- Sprinkle a cup of the remaining seasoned flour in the pan and whisk for 1 minute until the butter and flour are well combined.
- Gradually stir in chicken broth and milk until sauce is smooth.
- Return the cooked chicken and bacon to the pan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through
